Dr. Pankaj Tandon was born in Kanpur, India. He earned his Bachelor's degree form the St. Stephen's College and his Master's from the Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. His earned his Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University. Since 1978, he has been a Professor of economics at Boston University, where he has twice been awarded his Department's teaching prize. He has worked extensively on the Economics of Technological Change and on the Economics of Public Enterprise Divestiture, on which he has co-authored two books, "Selling Public Enterprises: A Cost-Benefit Methodology" (MIT Press), and "The Welfare Consequences of Selling Public Enterprises: An Empirical Analysis" (Oxford University Press). More recently, he has been interested in the Economics of Climate Change. For the last ten years, he has also been pursuing his interest in ancient Indian history and has published over twenty scholarly articles on various ancient Indian dynasties and aspects of Indian history. In pursuit of this interest, he is the creator of an online educational website: "Coin India: The Virtual Museum of Indian Coins". He is active in community affairs and serves as a Trustee of The Winsor School, a premier girls' school in Boston.
As a Fulbright-Nehru fellow, Dr. Tandon is associated with the St. Stephen's College, Delhi. He will teach the undergraduate students a course on microeconomic theory. Dr. Tandon also plans to write a text book in microeconomic theory with particular relevance to an emerging economy such as India. |
